not only from san diego but the -- seattle. >> i would think we're going to have a big year. >> reporter: even with the clouds, the slopes will stay fresh. forecasters predict eight to 9- inches of snow this weekend. >>> more snow in the sierra, more rain here in the bay area for tonight. in fact, a little more activity on live storm tracker 2, you can see the latest imagine in the last hour. you will notice those yellows indicating heavier rain. reports out of half-moon bay of heavier downpours right around the davenport area. light showers over san francisco also extending out toward oakland. some activity not all that's reaching the ground but up in the santa rosa reporting light rain. in addition to the rainfall we're tracking snow with dropping snow levels down about 2,500 feet in the bay area hills especially up in the north bay. here's our rainfall model. well take this into the overnight hours. the rainfall will be on the increase. this will be changing into the afternoon. coming up we'll take a look at the rest of the saturday afternoon forecast. and also a sneak peak at new yea

areas will have three to six inches of snow. seattle today, 42 for a high. portland, 39. now, all of the cold. it is some of the coldest air of the season. windchills this morning 20 below, bismarck. 4, rapid city. oklahoma city feels like 7 degrees. so, it's not just the northern plains. it's all the way down. dallas only feels like 22. memphis, 25. the windchill this morning. and the southeast has been a little wet. will be a little stormy for sure. may see some severe storms in parts of florida today. orlando 75. miami, 84. but behind it, some cooler and drier air. tough when you have all of the fresh snow, the ice and everything that happened last week to get temperatures anywhere. now, from west-to-east, we fly across the nation. san antonio, 55 and drier there. that's part of the cooler and drier air. and remember, the snowstorm moving through the northeast and southern new england. south of boston could get six to ten inches of snow. >> so, if you send me your twitter photos, sometimes we get into conversations. and this young lady who sends these photos is so great. britta

"the seattle times" like a lot of papers across the countried to has the story about the looming fiscal cliff and negotiations underway to get a deal by the deadline. they refer to the talks as a "taxing puzzle." the "l.a. times" has a story on how china's tea farmers are now turning to coffee. why? coffee thrives in high altitude areas and commands as much as three times as much money as tea. >>> also "the spectrum" in st. george, utah has a story titled "unconventional laws." it's an article about how some state laws may seem strange to many residents. one that mandates bicycle riders should keep one hand on the handle bars at all times or get this you could face 90 days in jail or a fine of up to $750. >>> well, three days now to go. you've been hearing about this fiscal cliff. i know you're tired of hearing of it. you've got three more days to hear of it. we might be going off that cliff here shortly. it's the focus right now in d.c. but it's also our focus, the senate in particular. majority leader harry reid and minority lead
